The temperature has hit over 50 degrees and it finally feels like springtime is on its way. We can’t wait to officially trade our dark wool sweaters for floral-patterned dresses, take lazy walks through the tree-lined parks, and enjoy all the rest of the simple delights that come with warmer weather. It would be impossible for us to bring up the bliss of spring without mentioning the beginning of hat season! While we love how an intricate fascinator or billowing sun hat from couture designers like Susan Van der Linde New York, can easily spice up an everyday look, we know that getting the perfect hair for under your hat can be a struggle. Not sure how to get the perfect hair for your hat? We’ve got you covered…
Fascinators allow you to style your hair more than other hats! We suggest trying a half-up updo, à la Kate Middleton. Curl your ends with a large barrel curling iron, then pull back the front pieces into a small bun. Top with the fascinator and you’ll look like royalty! Opting for a more casual look? Skip the pin in the back and set waves with a light coat of hairspray for an elegant but laidback style.
For wide-brimmed hats, we recommend keeping your hair more simple, yet still stunningly sleek with a low bun or ponytail. Blowout your strands to ensure ultimate volume, brush your hair back into a low ponytail and secure. For a dressier look, flip the bottom of the ponytail over the top and bobby pin to create the bun.
When wearing a top hat or straw fedora, opt for loose and flowing styles to offset the structured hat. Curl strands with a large barrel curling iron and spritz with hairspray to form loose waves. For a cleaner look, we suggest tying loose waves into a low ponytail and securing over one shoulder for a look that’s elegant yet relaxed.
