Meet the Stylist – Brittany Sybertz

April 13, 2016

Introduce yourself!

My name is Brittany Sybertz and I am from West Roxbury, MA. I am a stylist at SalonCapri Newton Highlands.

How many years have you been a part of the SalonCapri team?

I have been a part of the SalonCapri team for four amazing years!

Where did you study previously?

I started my education at Empire Beauty School and continued my training at the L’Oréal SoHo Academy in New York. The L’Oréal educators also travel to our salon frequently for classes, which I always attend – they are some of the most talented stylists in the world!

What do you specialize in?

I love all things color and coming up with fun and different looks for each of my clients. I specialize specifically in hair painting, or balayage, which means “to sweep” in French and I’ve recently been obsessed with fashion colors for something funky and different. I also specialize in foiling, cutting, hair straightening and up styles.

What inspired you to become a stylist?

The arts have been such a powerful influence in my life since childhood. Creative expression has always been the way I make sense of myself and the world around me. It has allowed me to open up my mind, broaden my perspective and embrace life more largely and positively. Because of this, I owe a lot of who I am to my career. When it comes to hair, I was always fascinated by hairstylists – I wanted to know everything. The mystery and wonder of hair lead me everywhere. I took a two dimensional art class in college and that’s where my passion really began. I was meant to share my ideas and visions with others and hair is the best possible canvas – I really love what I do.  I feel so grateful for the wonderful people I have met and the inspiring atmosphere I am a part of every day. I can’t wait to see what the years ahead have in store for me!

Which favorite hair care product has been in constant rotation for you behind the chair?

I am obsessed with the new Elixir Ultime Bi-Phase Spray Oil from Kérastase, it adds body and shine to fine hair. I also use Kérastase Fibre Architect and Nectar Thermique for heat protectants regularly – they work great for almost everyone’s hair type. Lastly, L’Oréal Professionnel Crêpage de Chignon is my favorite texture spray, you can apply it on wet hair for more texture – there’s nothing else like it!

Which celeb haircut and/or color are you loving right now and why?

I love Jennifer Lawrence and all of the risks she takes with her hair. She isn’t afraid to go super light or go for a pixie. Right now, she has a stunning blunt bob that clears her shoulders. It’s so fun to watch the celebrity styles evolve as well as my own clients!

What are your favorite hair colors or style trends right now?

I love color melting a darker root into lighter lengths and ends. Every brunette should add just a little sun-kissed color. A little bit of balayage can go a long way! Fashion colors are really cool right now, too. For style, I go for textured beach waves any time of the year.

What advice would you give a client who wants to try something new or different with their hair?

Our hair is the one thing we can change that can transform our entire appearance. Advice I have for clients looking to make a big change is if it complements your best features, go for it! If it’s something that you’re afraid won’t work with your lifestyle, then making smaller changes may be more practical.

What hair products should everyone have in their arsenal at home?

You should have a good masque and a heat protectant. Fine-haired clients would love the Kérastase Mousse Bouffante and L’Oréal Professionnel Crêpage de Chignon. Clients with tougher hair would benefit from a cream oil. If it’s thick and needs smoothing, try Mythic Oil Seve Protectrice. All of the Mythic Oil products work like magic!
