Meet the Stylist – Jaime Lynn Cullity

August 16, 2017

Introduce yourself!

Hi! My name is Jaime Lynn. I’m originally from Wrentham, MA and I’m a Junior Stylist at SalonCapri in Dedham.

What are your credentials?

I’m a licensed cosmetologist and professionally trained in Kérastase and L’Oréal Professionel.

How many years have you been a part of the SalonCapri team?

I’ve been a member of the SalonCapri family for three and a half years.

What was it like training directly with Gina? What’s the most important/memorable thing she taught you?

It was the best. She taught me everything, from confidence to time management tips, and helped me polish and hone my skills so that I could grow as a stylist. All three years working with Gina were memorable and beyond valuable.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I love to make people feel good about themselves – building relationships with my clients is one of the best parts about being a stylist. I also love that my job allows me to constantly be exposed to new trends and learn the latest techniques.

What do you specialize in?

Balayage is a passion and specialty of mine. I love mixing colors to find the perfect, unique shade for someone.

What inspired you to become a stylist?

I’ve always had an interest in the beauty industry, especially hair, and knew that I wanted to learn as much as I could and really dive into this field.

What is your #1 hair care or styling tip?

I can’t emphasize this enough – a good shampoo and conditioner are so key! It’s important to have those go-to, foolproof products that you can always trust on your hair.

Which favorite hair care product has been in constant rotation for you behind the chair to use on clients?

I’m such a fan of Kérastase’s V.I.P: Volume in Powder hair spray – it’s a great finishing product that gives volume and a matte, natural texture and appearance. Nectar Thermique, also by Kérastase, is such a good heat-protectant for people who blow dry their hair a lot. It repairs dry and damaged hair so well. Another go-to product of mine is Shu Uemura’s Cotton Uzo Defining Cream – it’s a textured pomade that leaves hair looking soft, shiny and controlled.

Which celeb haircut and/or color are you loving right now and why?

One word: Olivia. As in Culpo. I am obsessed with her current style. The length is trendy and can easily transition between seasons, and the rich color is effortless and stunning.

What are your favorite hair colors or style/cuts right now?

Dark, chocolate brown hues are really something that I’m loving right now. Also, short and airy styles – lobs and blunt cuts – are made for these hot summer days.

What do you predict is going to be one of the hair trends for Fall 2017?

I think that a sleek and straight look, a la 70s style, will be making a comeback. I predict that middle parts and super long styles will be very ‘in’ again – retro but still classic and timeless!

What hair products should everyone have in their arsenal at home?

In addition to the products mentioned above, another must-have is definitely Shu Uemura’s Wonder Worker Air/Blow Dry Primer. This secret weapon does just that; it works wonders! It instantly hydrates and detangles the hair, leaving it silky and shiny post-styling.
