Meet The Stylist – Molly Clifford

August 8, 2018

Introduce yourself!

Hey! I’m Molly Clifford. I grew up in Randolph, MA, and I’m a stylist at SalonCapri’s Newton Highlands location.

What are your credentials?

After receiving my Bachelors Degree from Simmons College, I attended the Toni & Guy Academy in Braintree, MA. I’ve also received training at the L’Oréal Professional SoHo Academy and apprenticed under Owner and Master Stylist, Laura Penna Shaw, right here at SalonCapri.

How many years have you been a part of the SalonCapri team?

I have been a member of the SalonCapri family for the past four years.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I love making people feel beautiful! Our hair is such a big part of our personalities, so it is a privilege to help people express themselves and feel their best. I really enjoy teaching people quick tricks to help them feel more confident with styling their hair at home. I want my clients to know that they can enjoy their look and still take pride in their style/color in-between services.

What do you specialize in?

I specialize in all types of color, but I’m most passionate about balayage. It really allows me to customize the color for each client depending on the look they’re hoping to achieve. It can add ‘barely there’ dimension or a lighter, brighter overall look and it truly is color theory and an art form.

What inspired you to become a stylist?

I’ve been passionate about hair my whole life. Growing up, I was always styling my dolls, sister and friends. During college, I studied and fell madly in love with art and I’ve really found the perfect marriage of my two passions.

What is your #1 hair care or styling tip?

Heat protection! It’s so important to make sure you’re protecting those ends whether you’re blow drying, flat ironing or curling. I always recommend Kérastase Sérum Thérapiste for anyone using hot tools. It’s a game-changer and certainly a must-have in my book.

What are your favorite hair colors or style/cuts right now?

Once again, balayage! It’s so versatile. It can be as subtle or dramatic as you’re looking for. The Lob (long bob) is definitely one of my favorite cuts – it’s just so fresh and full of character.

What advice would you give any client that is looking to do something different with their hair?

I love a good makeover, but think about why you want the change and how it might alter your routine in terms of maintenance and styling. As long you’re ready for it, I’m always excited for a transformation and will gladly help you take that next step!

What hair products should everyone have in their arsenal at home?

The right shampoo and conditioner can make all the difference in the world! Right now, I’m loving the new Kérastase Extentioniste line. It is designed to prevent breakage and split ends to promote growing longer, stronger hair. For styling, my favorites are L’Oréal Densité for volume and the Kérastase Thermiques for heat protection.
