Meet the Stylist – Samantha Lombardi

September 6, 2016

Introduce yourself!

For those of you who don’t recognize me from the salon, my name is Samantha Lombardi and I’m a senior stylist at the SalonCapri Dedham location. I’ve proudly been a part of the SalonCapri team for almost seven years.

What are your credentials?

Fresh out of high school I was eager to start my career so I carefully selected Paul Mitchell The School Rhode Island for my training. I have also been fortune to work for a company (SalonCapri!) that provides constant education for our staff. In fact, I’m looking forward to my next trip to NYC this month for a Shu Uemura hair cutting class!

What do you specialize in?

I have always been very confident in doing up-styles for weddings, proms and special events. However, I can honestly say that I love all aspects of hair styling, whether it’s a super edgy short cut, a shiny new color, or a trendy new ‘do.  I really do love the days where I get to do a little bit of everything.

What inspired you to become a stylist?

I have always appreciated art in all shapes and forms. Growing up I took many private watercolor art lessons. I loved it, but I was never really any good at it! Once I started playing with hair I realized that I had found my art! The fact that I get to make people feel beautiful and confident while doing what I love is simply amazing.

Which hair care product has been in constant rotation for you behind the chair to use on clients?

When it comes to products that I use on clients, I like a lot of “oldies but goodies,” such as L’Oréal Professionnel’s Tecni.Art Densité spray, which is my go-to for all clients with fine hair who are looking for a plumped-up, lifted look but need a lightweight finish.

When styling a coarse or curly mane that’s craving a smooth result, Kérastase products take the cake! Their Crème de la Crème Blowdry Control Cream eliminates frizz and leaves your locks feeling silky smooth. From Shu Uemura, hands down, my favorite product is their Texture Wave. You can blowdry your hair in any carefree style and then use the Texture Wave, which gives you an effortless textured finish without feeling sticky.

Which celeb haircut and/or color are you loving right now and why?

Every year around this time when fall is creeping in, my eye goes for rich golden reds. I was just watching the MTV Video Music Awards and couldn’t help but drool over Holland Roden’s locks. She was totally rocking a beautiful sleek look and I’m loving it. If you don’t know who she is, get familiar with her…she’s stunning! Don’t be surprised if you see me sporting her color this coming fall!

What are your favorite style trends right now?

This time of year is huge for fashion trends, which always lead to the hair trends. I love that simplicity in both clothing and hair is so powerful and sometimes so underrated. Clean and chic is never outdated in my opinion. A simple all-black outfit paired with a fresh, straight blowout is all you need to make anyone’s head turn.

What advice would you give any client that is looking to do something different with their hair?

To any clients that are looking to be bold and try something new with their hair this year, I say, “Go for it!” Just be sure that you are always on the same page as your current stylist. Before taking the plunge, make sure you communicate what you are looking for and always trust that your stylist will set you up to win.

What hair products should everyone have in their arsenal at home?

When it comes to any beauty regimen, a strong foundation is a must. In the hair world, I suggest having a professional shampoo and conditioner on hand at all times. This season, replenish the moisture back into your hair with Shu Uemura Moisture Velvet Shampoo and Conditioner. They’re fantastic!
