Meet the Stylist: Sarah Boido!

August 12, 2015

Introduce yourself!

Hi! My name is Sarah Boido and I’m from West Springfield, MA. I’m currently a junior stylist at both the Newton and Newbury Street locations.

How many years have you been part of the SalonCapri team?

I’ve been with SalonCapri for the past three years.

Where did you study previously?

I studied at the L’Oréal Academy and Empire Beauty School.

What do you specialize in?

My specialty is balayage. I love to freehand gorgeous color onto hair and give my clients a natural look.

What inspired you to become a stylist?

I became a stylist because it’s an outlet for my creativity and I love being able to accentuate people’s natural beauty.

Which favorite hair care product has been in constant rotation for you behind the chair?

I make sure to use a heat protectant on every client – my favorite is Nectar Thermique by Kérastase. It does an amazing job of protecting while still leaving hair soft and shiny.

Which celeb haircut and/or color are you loving right now and why?

Taylor Swift’s color! Her sandy golden blonde locks are a great balance between warm and cool and the perfect shade for her complexion.

What are your favorite hair colors or style trends right now?

My favorite hair look right now is the new ecaille trend. It’s also known as the “tortoiseshell technique” and is a great way to warm up and add dimension to hair. The blending of golden blondes, caramels, chestnuts and chocolates creates gorgeous, natural-looking hair.

What advice would you give a client who wants to try something new or different with their hair?

I would never recommend a style that’s not manageable for my client’s lifestyle. I urge my clients to make small changes at a time, easing them into a different style.

What hair products should everyone have in their arsenal at home?

As I mentioned before, I think everyone should own Kérastase Nectar Thermique to protect and I also recommend  Kérastase Mousse Bouffant to style, which gives fullness and structure to any style.  Shu Uemura Sheer Lacquer is my product pick to finish and hold hairstyles. Lastly, I like L’Oréal Professionnel Next Day Hair to refresh hair the day after a style.

    Hi Sarah Boido,
Do you know how to do the escaille technique? I currently have dark caramel with some lighter ends (old bayalage that have caramel hair dye on top). I want to start adding more dimension to my hair.
    Please contact me.

    Thank you
