Nick & Amy Penna’s Guide to Boston & Beyond!

April 23, 2015

New restaurants that you’ve tried and think are worth checking out…

restaurant

HIS PICK: Tough question! The food scene in Boston is so amazing right now it’s hard to choose… I love Sarma in Somerville.  I feel like out of all of the new spots in town, their menu is the most unique.

HER PICK: Alden and Harlow. Everything is good but I especially love the Octopus Panzanella!

Favorite meal at a restaurant in Boston or the surrounding ‘burbs…

food

HIS PICK: The Torta Campechana from Tenoch! It is heaven in the form of a sandwich. I also love the bone marrow at Toro, it’s one of the most well balanced dishes I’ve ever had.

HER PICK: Uni’s Tal Otaku and Tuna Ceviche. I could eat there every night! Uni’s Head chef, Tony Messina, always makes you feel like you are having dinner in his own kitchen.

Favorite alcoholic drink order…

Drink

HIS PICK: The No Sleep ‘Till Brookline from Fairsted Kitchen.  I love the combination of bourbon and Amaro and the lemon makes it fresh. I also love anything from Trillium Brewery.

HER PICK: The Milk Punch at The Eastern Standard. Trust me on this one, I know a milk cocktail sounds weird, but go there this weekend and then let me know what you think!

Go-to coffee spot & drink order…

coffee

HIS PICK: The Thinking Cup on Newbury Street. They have Stumptown iced coffee on tap that is my morning and mid-day go-to.

HER PICK: A soy latte from Tatte Bakery on Charles Street in Beacon Hill.

Best romantic date night…

HIS PICK: Sitting at the bar a Gulia in Cambridge.

HER PICK: A café table at No. 9 Park. The café area is more casual then the main dining room but is still incredibly romantic.

store

HIS PICK:  Aiden at John Varvatos is the man; he always helps me with my formal needs. I also like Barneys for the wide selection.

HER PICK: Scoop NYC and Barneys!

3 items that are on your spring shopping wish list…

HIS PICK: Prada Suede & Espadrille Slip-On Sneakers, triple knit jersey pullover hoodie from wings + horns and Rag & Bone’s Lynton Jacket in Black.  I love that this season’s men’s wear has a casual techie-cool vibe.

HER PICK: Sara Flint Bennett Slip-Ons in Sand, Ace and Jig Romper in Lattice from Covet + Lou, Rachel Comey Palma Dress at Steven Alan on Newbury Street, and a.p.c.’s Luxembourg bag.
