Tips & Tricks to Make 2016 Your Best Hair Year Yet

December 30, 2015

We asked our expert stylists to give us the lowdown on how we can keep our strands in stellar shape in the New Year. Here are some of their best tips for 2016.

Kevin – Newton

“If it works for your lifestyle, I’d recommend cutting out one traditional shampoo a week and swapping in a dry shampoo. This is especially important for color clients because washing less helps keep the color brilliant longer. Also, during the winter, the key to good hair is moisture, moisture, moisture! Alternate in a hydrating shampoo and conditioner and add a masque to your regular regimen for healthy hair.”

“Focusing more on thermal protectants will help greatly improve overall hair health in 2016. Especially in the winter, we rely on our blow dryer much more because of the cold weather. This increase in blow-drying results in more heat damage, so you need to be sure you’re using product beforehand to shield strands from the high temperatures of heat styling.”

“One product that you can’t go into 2016 without is Kérastase Elixir Ultime. Apply by concentrating from mid-shaft to ends to combat frizz and fly aways. It’s like a lip balm for the ends of your hair – what’s better than that?”

“A treatment I’d highly recommend to renew your locks for 2016 is the new and improved Kérastase Fusio-Dose treatment – it’s completely customizable and your stylist will evaluate exactly what you need done to your hair to give it a fresh start for the New Year. I especially love how it can add nourishment and moisture for the winter months. Also, this year, don’t be afraid to get regular trims! Just dusting off the dead ends so the hair doesn’t continue to split up the shaft can work wonders for the appearance of your hair.”

“Upgrading your product selection for 2016 can greatly improve the look of your hair. My favorites are Kérastase Nectar Thermique, which I like to apply before styling and blow-drying to keep strands hydrated and Shu Uemura Color Lustre, which keeps color vibrant and ensures that strands stay shiny during the dry seasons. By using quality products, you’ll get quality results!”
