April showers may bring May flowers, but this season we’re not willing to wait a whole month until we get to start embellishing our new spring ‘dos with some pretty pastel petals. Last spring, we couldn’t get enough of the gorgeous, oversized flower crowns and Dior-inspired floral hair embellishments that could be seen on runways, red carpets and in the manes of Coachella’s top trendsetters. This spring, when it comes to flower power, less is more! We’re loving simple, understated updos embellished with a delicate orchid or long textured locks artfully pinned aside with a chic single blossom. Not only will a floral addition make your look unique, it can also up the elegance on a more casual look or put a bit of playfulness into a simple style! We went to Senior Stylist and editorial updo extraordinaire, Graziella Lembo, for her tips and step-by-step instructions on how to get the perfect floral hair flair this spring.
Flower Lob Updo
1. Apply L’Oréal Professionnel True Grip Texturizing Powder for texture. Backcomb roots for volume.
2. Take sections of hair from the back and cross them over each other. Secure with bobby pins. Repeat until the sections form a flat messy bun.
3. Take a small section of hair from the bottom, twist into a curl, and pin onto the bun. Repeat with all bottom sections of hair.
4. Using a flat iron, curl the small sections of hair at the front. Spray with Kérastase Double Force for hold.
